“Chemicals for the leather industry belong to a separate category. One of our customers asked us to optimize their transports. About 40% of their products are being specified with a dangerous goods classification. In addition, their products have to be shipped in temperature-controlled conditions during certain periods. This combination require high demands on transport and associated lead times. To tackle this, we send the chemicals worldwide by air freight, a fast solution that also allows temperature-controlled options. If a shipment within Europe is in a hurry, we immediately set up an express transport so that the goods arrive exactly on time. To save costs within Europe, we opt for groupage when possible. For less restricted cargo shipping worldwide, we investigated the possibility of sending containers by sea freight. To facilitate loading at the customer’s location, we place empty containers in a timely manner. In this way, they load when it suits them.”
